  • SET UP

    $75 (plus strings)

    Includes re-stringing, leveling/locking tremolo, adjustment of the neck, string height at the nut and bridge, pickup heights, string length adjustment. Check electronics, clean body/neck.

  • PICK UP INSTALL

    Prices vary

    Solid body electric guitar=$30 per pickup. Hollow body guitar=$50 for first pickup, $30 for each additional pickup or component. Labor rates only, pickup(s) not included

  • Custom Pickguard

    $75

    Missing a hard/impossible to find pickguard? We can hand cut and shape most any design with the material of your choice. Machine routed pickup holes for a factory appearance

  • Bone Saddle Installation

    $35

    Fabricate a polished bone saddle to fit saddle slot and neck radius, restring (strings not included).

  • Bracing repair

    $30 (per brace)

    Re-glue loose bracing. We can also fabricate missing braces and install them for $60 per brace.

  • Crack/Structural Repair

    $65+

    Whether you discovered a crack in the top of your beloved Martin, or had an unfortunate spill with your trusty Takamine, we can repair and touch up the damage. Estimate given upon inspection.

  • Headstock Graft

    $700+

    Sometimes headstock breaks are too nasty to simply glue and clamp together, but no worries- we’ve developed a way to repair the most unforgiving breaks. Call for information or check out our photo album section for detailed examples of how we address this particular problem. (Set up included)

  • Bridge repair/restoration

    $250+

    As Ebony and Rosewood scarcity make bridge replacement increasingly difficult, restoring even the most damaged bridge may be the best option. Before you write off that "goner", consult with us first!

  • Re-fret

    $400+

    Remove frets, plane fingerboard, install frets of your choice, level and dress fret sides to perfection. Setup included. Add $50 for refinishing Maple fingerboard (if applicable). Add $100 for re-radiusing fingerboard. (Includes set up)

  • Neck Reset

    $400-$450

    Remove acoustic guitar neck, modify heel to restore proper neck angle, re-set into guitar, setup.

  • Install Electronic Component

    $30 per Component

    Broken switch, pot, or input jack? We can replace it for you easily, using only CTS pots and Switchcraft switches and input jacks (not included).

  • Electronic Re-wire

    $180

    Complete removal of old electronics and installation of hand wired harness, pickups, switch and input jack for your solid or hollow body electric guitar. CTS pots and Switchcraft parts not included.

  • Acoustic Guitar Pickup Install

    $65+

    Whether you want a pickup with all the bells and whistles or something simple you can simply plug in and go, we can take care of you. If you are undecided on what to have installed we can help you with that as well. (Labor rates only, pickup not included)

  • Bone Nut Installation

    $65

    Bone nut is fabricated to the exact dimensions of your guitar neck and polished to perfection. Compensated string spacing included. (Includes bone blank)

  • Binding repair

    $90+

    Re-glue loose binding, repair cracked binding, splice in missing binding, replace binding. Typical cost is under $100. Estimate given upon inspection.

  • Headstock repair

    $185+

    Cracks in the headstock are a common ailment, especially with mahogany necks used on most Gibson guitars. We can repair even the most catastrophic break and touch up the finish to hide the damage. Before you think it can't be fixed, bring it in for a free evaluation. (Includes set up)

  • Bridge Re-glue

    $185+

    Whether you can slide a thin piece of paper under the corner of your D-35's bridge, or the bridge has completely popped off your inexpensive classical guitar, we can re-glue it and set it up for you.

  • Fret Level (Fret Dressing)

    $185

    File frets with diamond file until perfectly level and no visible grooves, re-crown and polish. We can replace the heaviest worn frets for $10-$15 per fret (without/with neck binding)

  • Stainless Steel/ EVO Re-fret

    $450

    Stainless Steel or EVO hypo-allergenic re-fret using premium Jescar fretwire-- Installed meticulously into your beloved instrument. Add $50 for maple fingerboard, $100 for fingerboard re-radius. (Includes set up)

BRYANT RUSSELL

With over twenty five years of professional experience restoring, repairing, and maintaining stringed instruments, Bryant Russell has helped countless musicians keep their gear in peak condition.  After graduating in 1993 from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance, Bryant performed and taught guitar in the DFW area before accepting a position at the Brook Mays Pro Shop in Dallas as a repair technician, bringing a player’s perspective and a passion-with-precision approach to the craft.  Since heading up the repair department at Charley’s Guitar Shop in 2005, Bryant has dedicated himself to providing the highest quality instrument repair for the most discriminating musicians in the DFW area and beyond, having worked for local legends like Chuck Rainey and Reverend Horton Heat, as well as National touring acts like Roger Waters and Coldplay to name just a few.  Bryant stays active musically with local acts throughout the year, and enjoys time off with his wife Stacy and daughter Maggie, and watching Texas Rangers baseball while sipping Miller Lite among friends.
