Photo Nothing takes the place of a one-on-one, face-to-face music lesson. Music books and DVDs are helpful but can get you only so far.

Some of us want to start from the basics and some of us (of the older persuasion) just want to learn to play a few tunes. To get the "feel" thing and a true understanding of what you're doing takes a pro. And, we have four of them right here - instructors Danny Neal, Jerry Don Branch, Gerald Jones and Don Townsley.

To keep you in top form, we also host workshops with some of your favorite players. To sign up for Event and Workshop News click here.

Guitar Lessons

Danny Neal Danny Neal understands each student is unique and his teachings methods vary according to their needs.  He teaches all styles and techniques (including slide guitar).  Rock star tricks available too!

At age 8 Danny began playing guitar, at age 11 he started formal training and at age 14 he turned professional.  Playing various venues in Dallas and doing session work for television is where he got his start.

Over the years, Danny has worked with Randy Jackson (American Idol), Journey, Boz Scaggs, Aaron Neville, Dr. John, Doug Kershaw and many others.  Plus, he has composed music for bands, radio, television and Internet and has worked with various producers such as Narada Michael Walden (Aretha Franklin/Carlos Santana), Ian Samwell and Jimmy Horowitz (Elton John/America).

Music is the ultimate joy of his life, which he expresses through his guitar.  Your lessons with him will be a fun filled adventure.  Click here to send Danny an email.

Jerry Don Branch Jerry Don Branch has been playing with the Stratoblasters for 25 years of his 35+ year musical career. Gerald Jones Gerald Jones is multi-talented! He been teaching, performing and recording banjo, mandolin, fiddle and guitar since the 1970's. You've probably seen him playing with Texas fiddle legend "Texas Shorty".

Gerald was quick to share his knowledge beginning teaching almost from the time he started playing. Emily and Marty of the Dixie Chicks are among his notable students. But know this, I'd venture to say, almost everyone in Texas learning to play banjo or mandolin has taken lessons from him. He's that good!

He's been on the Camp Bluegrass banjo faculty since 1989 and teaches at many other camps and workshops every year. His special topic seminars include "25 Banjo Licks You Must Know" and "How Not To Sound Bad and Other Musical Survival Tips". The annual Acoustic Music Camp he founded AcousticMusicCamp.com is held in the Dallas area every August. He also teaches many other camps and workshops during the year. To find out more about Gerald, go to TheGeraldJones.com or click here to send Gerald an email.

Don Townsley Don Townsley brings to Charley's 16 years of teaching experience in rock, blues, country, jazz acoustic flatpicking and acoustic fingerstyle guitar.

With over 30 years of professional guitar playing experience under his belt, you might have seen him playing with the band Custom Made who opened for The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson and the Temptations many others. He's also played for President George W. Bush at the republican convention and inauguration in Washington D.C. and in New York City.

His accolades include thirteen nominations by the Dallas Songwriters Association for best original composition in the "pop" and "love" song categories and he's brought home three awards in the pop music category. Don loves teaching, and you'll love Don. Click here to send Don an email.
